The Houston Texans will look to snap a six-game losing streak when they host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8 NFL action. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Rams slated as 14.5-point favorites in what is the biggest spread of any game on the schedule.
If you need some help with your fantasy lineups, here's some start 'em, sit 'em advice for this Week 8 showdown.
Tyler Higbee Fantasy
Start Tyler Higbee, TE, Los Angeles Rams: This lines up to be a great game for tight end Tyler Higbee. The Rams' starter is coming off a Week 7 game in which he saw a season-high 8 targets and played in 100% of the offensive snaps for the fourth time this year. Head coach Sean McVay clearly trusts Higbee a ton in this offense and the 28-year-old now gets to face a subpar Houston defense. The Texans are giving up the second-most PPR fantasy points to opposing TEs and have allowed 6 touchdowns to the position (T-most in NFL). Fantasy managers can feel comfortable starting Higbee this week.
David Johnson Fantasy
Start David Johnson, RB, Houston Texans: It is hard to find a player on the Houston Texans worth starting on Sunday. The Rams' defense is no joke, but they have been susceptible to pass-catching backs. In fact, the Rams have given up the sixth-most receiving yards to opposing RBs (364). David Johnson has seen 6 targets in two of his last three games played and has already scored 1 receiving TD this season. There's a good chance Houston gets down early in this one, which gives Johnson a lot of opportunities to see some dump-off passes come his way. He is a FLEX option for teams in desperate need of depth.
Van Jefferson Fantasy
Sit Van Jefferson, WR, Los Angeles Rams: Every fantasy manager wants to get a piece of this high-octane Rams' passing attack. However, starting Van Jefferson is not the way to do that. Jefferson has been the definition of a boom-or-bust player so far. He has scored a touchdown or racked up 80 receiving yards in three games this season. Meanwhile, he has racked up a combined 91 receiving yards in his other four outings. The Texans have also been sneaky good against opposing WRs and are allowing the sixth-fewest PPR fantasy points to the position. Jefferson is a great bench add, but that is it for right now.
Tyrod Taylor Fantasy
Sit Tyrod Taylor, QB, Houston Texans: It's possible that starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor will make his return to the field in Week 8. Fantasy managers may be tempted to start him given his dual-threat abilities. That just isn't a smart idea, though. Taylor draws a horrible matchup going up against a Rams' defense that is allowing the sixth-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs. Overall, the Rams have posted the fourth-best pass defense DVOA rating and have 10 interceptions on the year (T-No. 2 in NFL). Taylor is a solid QB2, but he is only worth starting in favorable matchups moving forward.
