An NFL team can never have too much depth in the trenches, and the Minnesota Vikings have clearly prioritized that by signing free agent defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson.
Vikings News: Sheldon Richardson Signed
The Vikes have Michael Pierce and Hercules Mata'afa slated to start on the interior, but Richardson could be a valuable rotational piece on this line.
Richardson played one year in Minnesota in 2018, tallying 4.5 sacks and 16 QB hits (the second-most of his career).
Since then, he spent two years in Cleveland, racking up a combined 7.5 sacks and 16 QB hits, as well as 9 tackles for loss.
He hasn't made a Pro Bowl since 2014, but Richardson still has plenty to offer. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall grade of 71.1 in 2020 and 73.9 in 2019 — both of which actually beat out the 69.5 he had in his first stint as a Viking.
While the Vikings aren't the NFC North team drawing all the media attention this offseason, FanDuel Sportsbook does have them ranked second with +250 odds to win the division.
