Vikings Poach Another Rams Coach with New Offensive Coordinator Hire

The Minnesota Vikings will begin a new era with head coach Kevin O'Connell at the helm this offseason. The former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator is set to take on his first NFL head-coaching gig, and he'll want to surround himself with the right hires on his staff.
O'Connell appears to be tapping into his Rams roots with his choice for Vikings OC.

Vikings Offensive Coordinator
Wes Phillips will make the trip to Minnesota with O'Connell, taking over as the Vikings' new offensive coordinator. Phillips is the son of respected veteran head coach Wade Phillips, and the grandson of longtime NFL coach Bum Phillips.
Wes Phillips joined the Rams as tight ends coach in 2019, then took over as the passing game coordinator ahead of this past season. Prior to that, he was an assistant with the Dallas Cowboys and TEs coach for Washington.
It's no surprise to see O'Connell want someone he previously worked with on his staff. The two also enjoyed plenty of success together, as LA's top-ranked passing game was a key part of the Rams' eventual Super Bowl win.
O'Connell and Philips will hope to have similar success as they get to work in Minnesota following the Vikings' two-year postseason drought.
