The Minnesota Vikings have undergone plenty of changes already this offseason, hiring a new GM and head coach after missing the playoffs for the second straight year. With new decision-makers in town, there could be roster shakeups on the horizon as this team tries to contend.
Minnesota currently has a big question at quarterback, and its answer may involve pulling off a trade for a huge name.
Deshaun Watson Vikings
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Vikings are "among teams on [Deshaun Watson's] radar." It makes sense that Watson would be intrigued by Minnesota, given it boasts an elite duo at wide receiver and star running back to help shoulder the load.
The emergence of this rumor feeds into the uncertainty around Kirk Cousin's future with the team. The $45 million cap hit he carries in 2022 is gargantuan for someone with a losing record at starter (15-17) over the past two seasons.
Cousins is also entering his age-34 season and a free agent at the end of the year. If new GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah isn't 100% confident in Cousins being able to lift this team to serious contenders, then he should explore every upgrade possible right now rather than stalling.
Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler and 26 years old, would certianly be a long-term solution at QB for Minnesota. However, his off-field legal issues remain a major obstacle on his path to returning to the field.
