The NL East-leading New York Mets not only field talent at the major-league level, but throughout the organization. The Mets' loaded farm system makes the future for this franchise incredibly bright, as they're prepared to contend now and years into the future.
One of New York's best prospects gave a glimpse at what's to come Wednesday night with a two-home run outing.
Centerfielder Khalil Lee, the No. 7 prospect in the organization, showed off his power twice against the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. He first left the yard in the bottom of the fifth, sending one over the wall with relative ease.
Then Lee did it again in the eighth, blasting a no-doubt-about-it moon shot to right field. He knew he got ahold of it from the second he finished his swing, even taking a moment to admire it leaving the ballpark before beginning his well-earned trot around the bases.
This showing pushed his HR count to seven on the year, and his two RBIs now have him at 22 this Triple-A season. As long as he continues to make strides as a hitter, he should find his way back to the majors in no time.
