Is there any sports rivalry more intense than the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox? These two will drop the gloves at any given moment, including this iconic brawl from 2004.

Bronson Arroyo beans Alex Rodriguez with some high heat, but it's Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek that takes exception with A-Rod's remarks as he heads up the first base line. It's not too hard to figure out what A-Rod is saying to Varitek after that by reading his lips either.

It's like lighting a cigarette next to a pile of dynamite, one lose ember and the whole place is likely to explode. That was Fenway Park during this mid-Summer series, and Arroyo's fastball was the ember.

Most of the umpires aren't even interested in breaking this one up, they know better than to get in the way of this rivalry. Both teams collide and punches fly, with almost every single player and coach involved in the mayhem.

The New York-Boston rivalry has taken a step back in recent years, as the two teams have not been as competitive at the same time. For the fans' sake, for rivalry's sake and for the sake of baseball, let's hope the new generation of Yankees-Red Sox lives up to the previous ones.
