Ahead of the 2021 NFL season, the Las Vegas Raiders are hoping to end their four-year playoff drought. It's going to be tough, especially with the Raiders having just one season above .500 since 2003, but things can be a lot easier if sophomore wideout Bryan Edwards continues making catches like the one he did at Thursday's practice.

Veteran quarterback Derek Carr threw a ball up in the air towards the sidelines, resulting in Edwards leaping over cornerback De’Vante Bausby to come down with the insane catch.

Seriously, you need to check out the video of the catch for yourself to see how impressive it is.

There's obviously no guarantee that Edwards can pull off catches like that on a nightly basis, but the fact that he proved that he can make those plays is encouraging for the Raiders. After all, he did register a 37.7-inch vertical jump at last year's draft combine, so it's not like Las Vegas was unaware of his talents.

Unfortunately, Edwards' leaping ability didn't have much of an impact last year. While he suited up in 12 games (three starts) in the 2020 NFL season, he was targeted just 15 times for 11 receptions, 193 receiving yards and a touchdown. However, a closer inspection shows that the potential for a 2021 breakout campaign is there. Edwards had an impressive 73.3% catch rating and also averaged 17.5 yards per reception. That's also without mentioning how he didn't drop a single pass or his 137.5 passer rating when targeted.

Yes, those statistics are a small sample size, but when you take them and combined them with the wideout's play at training camp, it's not hard to see that the Raiders potentially have a special player on their hands.

Las Vegas has +7500 odds (T-25th) to win Super Bowl 56 this season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
