The Philadelphia Eagles have owned NFL news this entire offseason with questions surrounding the quarterback position. It looked like this team was ready to go all-in on Jalen Hurts after trading Carson Wentz, but they also signed veteran QB Joe Flacco in free agency. Philadelphia continued to build up its quarterback depth after signing an undrafted free agent following the draft.
Here's a look at the Eagles' updated QB depth chart for 2021.
Eagles QB Depth Chart 2021
1. Jalen Hurts
While some questions remain, it looks like the Eagles will move into the next era at quarterback with Jalen Hurts under center. Philadelphia added nine talented players in the 2021 NFL Draft including a familiar face for Hurts to throw to (Alabama's DeVonta Smith at No. 10 overall). Hurts signed a four-year rookie contract worth $6 million in 2020.
2. Joe Flacco
Joe Flacco will likely assume the role of backup to Hurts next season in Philadelphia. He's a very capable backup option with 13 seasons of NFL experience under his belt. This includes a 2013 Super Bowl victory with the Baltimore Ravens. Flacco agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract back in March.
3. Jamie Newman
Jamie Newman threw for 2,868 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2019 while at Wake Forest. He then transferred to Georgia, but he didn't see the field for the Bulldogs after opting out of the 2020 season. As a result, his draft stock took a hit. But, the Eagles signed Newman as a talented undrafted free agent earlier this week. Newman adds a layer of depth and upside to Philadelphia's quarterback room.
