Trade Rumors Link Mets to All-Star Slugger

As the second half of the 2022 MLB season resumes, the New York Mets are hoping to continue this year's success into a potential World Series run. One way that the Mets can further improve their championship odds is by adding some extra talent ahead of August's trade deadline.
Even though the organization has been linked to various potential trade targets, MLB insider Jon Heyman reports that the club is now linked to Pittsburgh Pirates slugger Daniel Vogelbach.
MLB notes: If anyone thought the break could signal a breakthrough in Judge-Yankees talk, well, it didn’t happen. Still plenty of reasons for the sides to stay together thoughhttps://t.co/ZtByArgvsX

Mets Trade Rumors
Heyman reports that Vogelbach is someone that the Mets would like to target for the designated hitter position. While he adds that the power-hitting lefty likely "ranks below Josh Bell, C.J. Cron" as potential targets, he's someone that can clearly help Buck Showalter's squad.
Despite spending some time on the injured list, Vogelbach has managed to record a respectable 12 home runs and 24 RBIs in 237 at-bats over 75 games this season. The former 2019 All-Star also has a decent eye in the batter's box, having drawn 40 walks already compared to 43 in 93 games last year.
J.D. Davis hasn't been awful as the Mets DH, but he's been far from amazing. Vogelbach would be an upgrade over him, especially with the Orlando, FL native's 12 HRs being good enough to rank third-best in the organization.
The thing about Vogelbach is that he's also under team control for the upcoming two seasons, making him more than a one-year rental. If the Mets want to improve their lineup for the next few years without breaking the bank, calling the Pirates regarding Vogelbach might be the way to go.
Mets World Series Odds
The Mets are already one of the top 2022 World Series threats and adding Vogelbach to the mix will only improve their championship aspirations. FanDuel Sportsbook currently has the Mets available at +800 (No. 4) to win the 2022 title later this fall.
