The kicker position is rarely more than an afterthought in fantasy football. Usually dismissed as an unfortunate necessity, many players simply draft their kicker and leave them plugged in as their starter until a bye week ultimately changes things.

That can leave a big edge for savvy fantasy owners though. The position tends to be inconsistent, but Steven Hauschka, one of our streaming option picks in Week 7, was one of only six kickers to score at least 11 fantasy points, which was a season-high mark for him by quite some margin.

Here are the top-3 fantasy football kicker streaming options, owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Football leagues, for Week 8.

Best Kicker Fantasy Football 2019

3. Zane Gonzalez, Arizona Cardinals (47% Owned)

Featured as a streaming option just about every week, Zane Gonzalez's ownership is finally starting to trend upward. If he's still available in your league you should take advantage, as he ranks third among all kickers with 67 fantasy points on the season. His 18 made field goals are tied for the most in the NFL, and his 21 attempts are two more than anyone else. A matchup with the New Orleans Saints hurts, as they allow the NFL's 11th-fewest points per game to opponents, but Gonzalez' huge attempt volume keeps him in play here.

2. Chris Boswell, Pittsburgh Steelers (9% Owned)

One of the easiest ways to find a solid kicker play is just targeting whoever is against the Miami Dolphins. That's the matchup that allowed Hauschka to thrive last week, and five of the six kickers Miami has faced have notched at least seven fantasy points (with three hitting double digits). Chris Boswell has been solid himself, with at least eight fantasy points in five of his last six games. The Pittsburgh Steelers are huge 14.5-point favorites over Miami, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and scoring opportunities should not be hard to come by Monday,

1. Mike Nugent, New England Patriots (37% Owned)

It doesn't make a ton of sense that the kicker in the NFL's highest scoring offense (31.9 points per game) is still available in more than 60 percent of leagues, but that does give us a top streaming option here. The insane efficiency of the New England Patriots' offense has only earned Mike Nugent four field goal attempts in his three games, but he is still averaging seven fantasy points per game thanks to 13 extra point attempts. Few kickers have a floor as high as Nugent's, and while he hasn't shown it yet, we do know the Patriots' offense can provide some big upside for kickers if a couple drives stall, as proven by Stephen Gostkowski's four-FG game in Week 1. Nugent sits third at the position in our Week 8 PPR fantasy football rankings.
