It's rare to see a NFL running back get paid when there are multiple years left on their contract, but Derrick Henry has been dominant enough to at least make the conversation worth happening. ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler reports that the Tennessee Titans aren't shying away from the idea, either.

Fowler explains that the Titans are open to a new deal for Henry and that shouldn't come as a major shock considering the role he plays on offense. The Alabama product has averaged over 100 rushing yards per game in each of the last three seasons and made the All-Pro first team just two years ago.

Henry has two years left on his current contract and comes with a $15 million cap hit in each one. Agreeing to add another year or two onto his deal would allow the Titans to lessen those hits and have a top RB locked in for the long haul. That's something fans would certainly not be opposed to.

Tennessee could always create a few escape hatches in the new deal just in case Henry starts to decline as he enters his 30s. He does enter the 2022 season coming off a brutal right foot injury, but all signs point to him being a full-go when training camp gets underway in just under two months.

It'll be interesting to see if talks between Henry and the front office start to heat up during the summer. For now, the Titans have odds set at +145 to win the AFC South division and odds set at +3000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
