Most Likely Takkarist McKinley Trade Destinations

The Atlanta Falcons are in the midst of a dismal 1-6 start to the 2020 NFL season and are figured to be sellers at the upcoming NFL trade deadline. One name that has been repeatedly floated around is defensive end Takkarist McKinley.

McKinley is a former first-round pick for the Falcons and is now in the final year of his rookie contract after the team declined his option. The 24-year-old has produced 17.5 sacks in his career and is expected to draw interest from multiple teams across the league. Here's a look at three spots that would make the most sense for teams looking to add depth along the defensive line.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions this season and acquiring McKinley at the trade deadline could be an underrated move for the team. The Chiefs are giving up 4.9 yards per carry this season (T-No. 26 in the NFL) and 149.9 rushing yards per game (No. 30 in the NFL). While McKinley is known more for his pass rushing abilities, acquiring another solid defensive lineman would only help the Chiefs' rush defense as well as pass defense.
2. Seattle Seahawks
Another team that makes sense as a possible landing spot for McKinley is the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are averaging just 1.5 sacks per game this season, which is the eighth-fewest in the league, and have shown that they need some help on pass rush. If the Seahawks truly want to compete for a Super Bowl, they need to fill out their defense, which ranks No. 28 in the NFL in defensive DVOA. They may have just added Carlos Dunlap from the Cincinnati Bengals, but continuing to address their biggest need by acquiring McKinley at the deadline would be another strong move.
3. New England Patriots
As the Patriots continue to go through ups and downs in their first season without Tom Brady, the team could be a possible landing spot for McKinley. If anyone can take a young player, turn him around, and bring out his full potential, it is Bill Belichick and the Patriots' coaching staff. Plus, the Patriots rank dead last in the NFL with only a 26% pressure rate. The defensive line may not be the Patriots' biggest issue, but it is one they could definitely look to address at the trade deadline.
