As the Pittsburgh Steelers gear up to kick off their 2021 NFL Training Camp on July 22, there will be a new face on the roster. On Monday, the Steelers officially announced the free-agent signing of three-time Pro Bowler Melvin Ingram to a one-year deal.

After nine years with the Los Angeles Chargers, Ingram will now don the infamous black and gold in Pittsburgh. Los Angeles chose not to re-sign their nine-year veteran pass rusher this offseason following an injury-riddled 2020 campaign. Ingram saw action in just seven games and failed to record a single sack.

Despite the down-year, Ingram still has the potential as one of the better pass rushers in football. Across nine years, the 32-year-old defensive end has recorded 49.0 sacks. In fact, he's recorded 7.0-plus sacks in five of his seasons including two seasons hitting the 10.5-sack mark.

If Ingram is able to return to any sort of his normal form, the Steelers will tout a scary presence on the defensive line. With T.J. Watt leading the way, the Steelers averaged a league-high 3.3 sacks per game in 2020.

Currently, Pittsburgh owns +170 odds to make the playoffs and odds set at +4400to win the Super Bowl, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
