After releasing their first official Week 1 depth chart on Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers came out with an updated version on Tuesday that featured a big shakeup at the quarterback position. Rookie Kenny Pickett is now listed as the backup QB and Mason Rudolph is slated as the third-string option.

It may seem like a small change, but it is a big deal nonetheless. The Steelers typically only dress two quarterbacks on game day. That means if starter Mitchell Trubisky was to struggle or go down with an injury, Pickett would be the next in line. Meanwhile, Rudolph would be on the sideline in street clothes.

Many Steelers fans expected this to be the move from the get-go. After the first preseason game, a majority of Pickett's playing time was spent with the second-team offense and he was even in a battle with Trubisky for the starting gig. Head coach Mike Tomlin clearly believes in the rookie's NFL upside.

Tomlin is set to hold a press conference on Tuesday afternoon and it can be assumed that he will address the QB situation in detail. One thing is for sure and that is that Trubisky will be the starter against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1. That game is set to take place at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 11.

Trubisky owns 29-21 record as a starting QB, but he'll need to guide Pittsburgh to some early season wins or the fans are going to start clamoring for Pickett. The Steelers enter Week 1 as a 6.5-point road underdog with odds set at +220 on the moneyline, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
