Rex Burkhead is expected miss his second consecutive game after the New England Patriots ruled the running back out for their Thursday night meeting with the New York Giants.

Burkhead's not an integral part of the Patriots' offense by any stretch, but his absence does mean that Sony Michel's fantasy value gets a boost again in Week 6.

With Burkhead on the shelf in Week 5, Michel played 48.7 percent of the Patriots' offensive snaps, which was his highest mark of 2019. He also saw expanded usage in the receiving game, notching three targets compared to only one across his first four games.

The Patriots have not been shy about featuring Michel when they're playing with comfortable leads, and he has at least 15 carries in four of his five games this season. They're likely to be playing with a lead for much of tonight's game, sitting as huge 16.5-point favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Michel's inefficient start to the season was frustrating for fantasy owners, but he really seemed to turn a corner with Burkhead on the shelf last week, racking up 21.3 PPR (and 18.3 standard) fantasy points. With Burkhead sidelined again and a great matchup on tap against the Giants, Michel sits at RB26 in our Week 6 fantasy football rankings, making him well worth starting on Thursday.
