With Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers sidelined for the entire 2021 season due to injury, Darrell Henderson has stepped in nicely as a true workhorse back.

However, running backs that see that much volume are unfortunately always prone to injury and that's exactly what happened in Week 2.

Darrell Henderson Injury Update

Henderson suffered a rib injury in the third quarter of the Rams' victory on Sunday, potentially calling his availability for Week 3 into immediate question. He was taken out in the third quarter and did not return. Luckily, head coach Sean McVay spoke to media about the injury and provided a much more optimistic update on Monday night.

"We want to give him as much time as possible to get as healthy as possible. This is something that if the pain subsides then we will be confident to be able to utilize him."

McVay's initial injury update is a best-case scenario for the Rams. Henderson clearly avoided anything serious with the rib injury and this is more of a pain management situation for the third-year running back.

During the first two weeks of the season, Henderson has been everything the Rams were hoping for. In a pass-friendly offense, he's recorded 123 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns while getting involved in the passing game with 4 receptions on 6 targets and 46 yards.

This is an injury to keep an eye on throughout the week. Newly acquired Sony Michel slots in behind Henderson on the depth chart and has been productive as well, rushing 11 times for 48 yards.

Los Angeles heads into an exciting Week 3 matchup against the 2-0 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and is favored by 1.5 points at home on FanDuel Sportsbook.
