Despite his Wolverine-esque recovery ability, disaster struck for Saquon Barkley and his fantasy managers when a torn ACL cost him the majority of the 2020 season.

An injury like that can have long-term repercussions for running backs, but those concerns don't look like they'll apply for Saquon this year. He's already back on the field at New York Giants training camp, and he still has a month left to get back up to speed before the regular season.

Saquon Barkley Fantasy Football Value

Unless we hear news about a potential setback, this update means fantasy football managers can feel confident about taking Barkley as a first-round pick now.

Despite being limited to 13 games due to injuries in 2019, Barkley finished as the RB10 in PPR fantasy scoring, averaging 18.8 fantasy points per game. He also looked well on his way to receiving the same workhorse volume that allowed him to hit those heights in 2020, when he tallied 15 carries and 9 targets in his only full game of the season.

The Giants haven't added any inspiring depth behind Barkley on the depth chart, with Devontae Booker holding down the RB2 job for now, and that means Saquon is once again in for true workhorse volume.

Barkley checks in at RB6 in The Duel's 2021 fantasy football rankings.
