Ryan Fitzpatrick Reveals Cringe-Worthy Text He Sent to Alex Smith Following Leg Injury

Recently retired NFL quarterback Alex Smith suffered one of the most gruesome leg injuries in history that required 17 surgeries to repair. Well, fellow QB Ryan Fitzpatrick revealed that he certainly underestimated the severity of the situation when it first happened.
Fitzpatrick explained how he sent a cringe-worthy text to Smith after the injury occurred relating it to the fractured tibia he suffered himself a few seasons earlier in 2014. He told Smith that he would be healed up in no time, but was just as surprised as anyone to see what Smith really had to go through.

Smith simply responded, 'Well, mine might be a little more complicated.' Smith was at one point in danger of losing his life, let alone his leg. Fitzpatrick said he felt like horrible looking back on it, but is glad to be able to joke about the matter given the veteran's miraculous return to the field last season.
Fitzpatrick called it one of "one of my biggest regrets to date." He also claimed it was "the single worst text I've ever sent." All things considered, this embarrassing moment could've happened to anyone.
Fitzpatrick had a lot of praise for Smith and also talked about how they were both part of the same draft class back in 2005. Fitzpatrick will be playing in his 17th year in the NFL next season as he is set to be the starter for the Washington Football Team, Smith's former role.
