Rob Gronkowski is one of, if not the, greatest tight end to ever play. But in a surprising move, Gronk will have a chance to add to that already-impressive resume. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have just traded a fourth-round pick to the New England Patriots to acquire him after Gronk expressed his desire to return to football to play alongside Tom Brady on his new team.

While this move will reunite him with Tom Brady, don't expect Gronkowski to be the elite fantasy producer he once was with the Patriots.

Rob Gronkowski Fantasy Outlook

The last time we saw Gronk play, he was still a high-level contributor, but that had more with his elite blocking ability than his pass-catching. In 13 games, Gronk only racked up 682 receiving yards and a career-low 3 touchdowns, despite seeing the third-most targets on the 2018 Patriots.

Now in Tampa Bay, he'll be competing with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin for looks, and he'll also have to deal with O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate, who are both solid tight ends. Even if the addition of Gronkowski leads to a trade of one of those two, Gronk isn't exactly a surefire bet to see the target share he once did.

Gronkowski will be an interesting name to watch in fantasy circles this summer, though he's best viewed as a mid-to-low end TE1. As tempting as it may be to grab the big name, don't expect Gronk to suddenly post an elite fantasy season in "Tompa Bay" – especially after a year away from the game.
