The Cincinnati Reds are fighting to stay in playoff contention this MLB season and currently sit 5.0 games back in the NL Central division with a 29-31 record. However, the team recently took a brutal hit to the pitching staff as its best reliever in Tejay Antone is set to be placed on the injured list.

Red News

Antone is going on the injured list as he's dealing with inflammation in his right forearm. That's obviously a tricky situation for a pitcher to be dealing with, but the Reds need him back soon given his dominant start to the season.

The 27-year-old righty has been the Reds' best arm coming out of the bullpen this season posting a 1.41 ERA and 0.72 WHIP across 32 innings pitched. He has also struck out 40 batters during that span and sports a 1-0 record on the year. His 3 saves rank second on the team behind Lucas Sims.

No matter how long he's ultimately out, this is bad news for Cincinnati. The Reds' bullpen ERA this season for pitchers not named Tejay Antone is 6.58.

The Reds will look to turn things around and currently have odds set at +175 to win the division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
