The Cincinnati Reds' season is on life support. Once sitting in the second NL Wild Card spot just a couple weeks ago, Cincinnati is now 4.5 games back of the St. Louis Cardinals for that spot, with just 10 games left to play.

As if making up almost 5 games in the standings wasn't hard enough in that timeframe, things got even more difficult on Thursday when the team announced Tyler Naquin will be out for the rest of the season.

Tyler Naquin Injury Update

A few weeks ago, Naquin collided with teammate Jose Barrero and suffered a bruised rib, an injury that is clearly still lingering. He has been on the IL since September 17, but Thursday his season officially ended.

Naquin was enjoying a career year. Hitting .270 with an .809 OPS, adding 19 home runs and 70 RBIs in 127 games for Cincinnati this year, he will be missed in the Reds' lineup the rest of the year and into the playoffs if they are able to sneak in.

Cincinnati holds +12000 odds to win the National League Pennant, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest MLB odds.
