Ravens Adding Big-Name College Coach to 2023 Staff

After naming a new offensive coordinator last week, the Baltimore Ravens continued adding to their coaching staff this week by poaching a big name from the college ranks.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday that the Ravens are expected to hire Willie Taggart as their new running backs coach, according to a source.

Taggart — the former head coach at FAU, Florida State, Oregon, South Florida and Western Kentucky — was once Jim Harbaugh’s RB coach at Stanford. Now joins brother John in Baltimore.
Baltimore Ravens News
This would be the first NFL job for Taggart, who's been coaching at the collegiate level since 1999. One of those stops included a stint as Stanford's running backs coach under Jim Harbaugh -- brother of Baltimore's head coach, John.
Taggart became a head coach in 2010 for Western Kentucky and continued to build his resume with additional head coaching experience at big programs such as Oregon and Florida State.
It's not clear whether the Ravens' current running backs coach Craig Ver Steeg will remain with the team or move on after two years in that role for Baltimore.
The Ravens have had one of the best running attacks in the NFL in recent seasons (largely thanks to Lamar Jackson), so Taggart will play an important role on Baltimore's coaching staff. The team is looking to get more production out of its RBs to take some of the pressure off Jackson, especially if the former MVP switches teams this offseason.
Time will tell if Taggart is up to the challenge and can make the most of his first NFL opportunity.
