The Los Angeles Rams are starting to weigh their future starting quarterback situation heading into the 2021 season. Even though their 2020 campaign ended less than two weeks ago, the team is openly discussing the potential of Jared Goff not being the team's starter next year.

Perhaps in an effort to light a fire under their well-paid QB, the Rams are reportedly set on having an open competition at quarterback between Goff and John Wolford heading into the 2021 season.

Despite throwing less than 50 passes during the 2020 campaign, Los Angeles seems high on Wolford's potential. It speaks to both the Rams' optimism about Wolford as well as their current sour taste with Goff, who surely isn't happy about having to fight for his job with a backup.

Goff's play in recent seasons has put him in this position, though. He's posted back-to-back years with declining touchdown passes, going from 32 in 2018 to 22 in 2019 and 20 in 2020. Of course, Goff played like a Super Bowl-caliber QB in 2018, taking his team to the championship game before losing to the New England Patriots.

Los Angeles has failed to recapture the magic from its 2018 season, squandering the league's best defense this year with a Divisional Round exit.

Perhaps a QB competition can get Goff back to the level he needs to be at for this team to seriously compete, especially if the Rams bring in a veteran to push him.
