Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs had the best season of his career in 2022, leading the NFL in both rushing yards (1,653) and scrimmage yards (2,053) in his final year before free agency. He went into the offseason hoping to sign a long-term deal with Las Vegas or elsewhere, but instead the Raiders stuck him with the franchise tag.

Josh Jacobs Contract Update

Jacobs has yet to officially sign the tag, however, as he is still seeking a new deal. As a result, he will not be attending the start of voluntary offseason workout programs on Monday.

Teams around the league are beginning preparations for next season for players under contract, which technically Jacobs is not yet.

Las Vegas' roster has seen a major overhaul this season, mainly switching out quarterback Derek Carr for Jimmy Garoppolo. Now, their star running back's future is in limbo as well.

These workouts are optional, but with an unsigned franchise tag and no long-term deal seemingly in the works, it seems like Jacobs is on the road to a holdout. It will be interesting to see how the Raiders handle this situation, especially after Jacobs was such a key part of their offense last year.
