The Los Angeles Chargers have announced that they will not be bringing Philip Rivers back for the 2020 NFL season. After 16 seasons with the Chargers, Rivers is now in line to play for a new team for the first time in his career.

FanDuel Sportsbook has released odds for his potential landing spots, and the most recent update has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the top of the list, as +170 favorites.

The Bucs are still in talks to bring back Jameis Winston, but the kinds of deals they're reportedly offering (a two-year contract with a team option in year two) don't make it look like they're dead-set on bringing him back.

Tampa could very well be in a position to compete for a playoff spot, having finished tied for second in the NFC South at 7-9 last season. That means there could be a lot of value in bringing in a short-term starter like the 38-year-old Rivers while a younger passer develops as a backup.

Rivers had some trouble with interceptions in 2019, throwing 20, but that's not necessarily a sign of decline, even though it might give Bucs fans some unpleasant flash-backs to Winston. Rivers led the NFL in picks thrown in both 2014 and 2016, but he also had a career-low 1.7 percent interception rate in 2017, so a year of struggles on that front isn't necessarily a concern moving forward. The 4,615 yards he threw for in 2019 were also Rivers' most in the last four seasons, and it looks like he still has something in the tank.

In Tampa, Rivers would also be throwing to one of the most dangerous WR duos in the NFL in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

The Bucs are long shots to win the NFC, at +1800 on FanDuel Sportsbook, but adding Rivers under center could give them a nice boost for the season.
