Cam Newton remains an unrestricted free agent. Now, in a post-draft world, the potential suitors for Newton have dwindled a bit. Teams like the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers, who both got their signal callers of the future in the draft, are no longer in serious consideration, as they were a month ago.
However, as we fast forward to today, there is a new leader in the odds to sign the veteran signal caller, and it's the New England Patriots, who sit at -190, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Cam Newton Patriots
There was a ton of buzz around the Patriots signing Newton when he was first released by the Panthers. Although, by NFL Draft time, those rumors had died down as it seemed like a good possibility New England would target a quarterback in the draft.
That didn't happen, so now the rumors are beginning to swirl, and it is certainly showing in the updated odds.
Odds to sign Cam Newton
Following the Patriots, you have the Jacksonville Jaguars at +300, who were in fact the odds-on favorite to sign Newton as little as a few hours ago. The rest of the odds are rounded out by the Pittsburgh Steelers (+750), Denver Broncos (+1000), Chicago Bears (+1100), Las Vegas Raiders (+1500) and Washington Redskins (+1500).
All of those teams have questions at the quarterback position in their own right, but with this recent increase in odds for New England, it seems the Patriots aren't as comfortable with Jarrett Stidham as the starting QB as we once may have thought.
