Padres News: San Diego Gets Bad Yu Darvish Injury Update

With a 52-38 record as they hold on to the final National League Wild Card spot by 5.5 games, the San Diego Padres have been one of the best teams in the MLB this season. However, as the second half of the season begins to heat up, the Padres received some bad news regarding starting pitcher Yu Darvish.
The five-time MLB All-Star was pulled after just three innings during San Diego's 9-8 win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday. It was later revealed that Darvish exited the matchup due to back tightness.

Yu Darvish Injury Update
The good news is that the move was just a precautionary one, so it doesn't seem like the Padres are too worried about the situation. Still, the injury could force Darvish to miss next week's 2021 MLB All-Star festivities.
Even if Darvish's injury isn't anything too serious, his absence will be a blow to the Padres as he's been the club's ace this season. He has a 7-3 record, 3.09 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 105.0 innings pitched over 18 starts.
Hopefully, Darvish has a full and speedy recovery because the Padres will need him as they chase their seventh playoff berth in the club's 52-year existence. San Diego is currently tied with the Chicago White Sox for the 3rd-best World Series odds at +850, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
