Padres Get Exciting Fernando Tatis Jr. Injury Update

San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. is working his way back from wrist and shoulder injuries. He missed the entirety of the 2022 season because of injury and then a subsequent positive PED test, which came along with an 80-game suspension.

Tatis' role on the Padres this year is clouded, especially after the signing of ex-Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts to a massive contract this offseason.

However, Tatis will of course have someplace on this team as long as he's in San Diego. He remains one of the best young hitters and all-around players in baseball. While he still has to serve some games for his suspension, that doesn't bar him from participating in Spring Training games.

The latest report is that Tatis will make his Spring Training debut next week.

Tatis will be eligible to return from suspension on April 20, as long as he's healthy, of course. Tatis has dealt with a fair amount of injuries in his young career, but some of them have been caused by irresponsibility off the field, rather than on it.

2023 will be a big year for Tatis in terms of his chance to bounce back and prove what type of player and person he really is. His personal maturity clearly had a lot of catching up to do with his baseball talent. This season will be an opportunity to prove that they're finally on the same level. If they are, Tatis will once again become one of the best players in baseball.
