The Green Bay Packers' wide receiver situation was flipped on its head when the team shockingly traded Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason. Although they haven't found a replacement yet, it's expected that the Packers will seek help at the 2022 NFL Draft.
Green Bay currently owns 11 picks in this month's draft, including the 22nd and 28th overall selections, giving them multiple opportunities to find a wideout. Unfortunately, the Packers are projected to make a pretty major reach in ESPN's Todd McShay's latest 2022 NFL mock draft.
Packers Mock Draft
McShay has the Packers selecting Penn State Nittany Lions wideout Jahan Dotson at No. 22. He's one of the more promising WRs in the class, but many experts have him projected to be a second-round talent. Considering how Green Bay has two second-round picks, it's easy to see how McShay's projection is a reach.
Dotson had his best season at Penn State last fall, finishing with new personal highs in catches (91), receiving yards (1,182) and touchdowns (12). He possesses some solid speed (4.41-second 40-yard dash), however, his 5-foot-11, 184-pound frame puts him on the smaller side for a wideout.
On the other hand, even if the pick is a reach, the fact that Dotson would be playing with Aaron Rodgers could erase all doubts. The four-time NFL MVP elevates all pass-catchers around him and Dotson could shock a lot of people if the Packers make him the No. 1 wideout in the offense.
Packers fans won't have to wait long to find out if Dotson will be playing in the 'Green & Gold' next season. The 2022 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 28 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
