The Green Bay Packers' 38-3 Week 1 loss to the New Orleans Saints was ugly for numerous reasons. Several players finished the game with injuries, including offensive guard Lucas Patrick and safety Darnell Savage. Fortunately, Green Bay received some promising injury updates regarding both players on Saturday.

Lucas Patrick Injury Update

Patrick suffered a concussion on the final play of last Sunday's season opener. The fifth-year guard has been in concussion protocol all week, however, he's close to clearing it, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Patrick was seen practicing on Saturday without pads on, which is definitely a step in the right direction. The good news is that Green Bay's next game isn't until Monday night, which gives the veteran an extra day to be game ready.

The 28-year-old has a big part of the Packers' offensive line after having started in 15 of 16 games last season. Patrick finished the campaign by allowing 3 sacks while taking the same amount of penalties on 939 offensive snaps. Getting him back in the lineup will be key to rebounding from last week's embarrassing loss.

Darnell Savage Injury Update

The Packers also received a great injury update on their 2019 first-round pick. Savage has been dealing with a shoulder issue while also practicing in each of the last three days — something he probably wouldn't be doing if the injury was more severe. Unless there's a major setback, all signs point to him likely suiting up against the Detroit Lions on Monday.

The third-year safety has looked really good at times throughout his 30 career games as a Packer. He's recorded 131 total tackles, 17 passes defended and six interceptions over the last two years.

With the injuries that Green Bay's defense is already dealing with, getting Savage back in the lineup would be welcomed news.
