It's been hard to find a bright spot in the 2021 MLB season when it comes to the Baltimore Orioles. At 22-46, the Orioles are one of the worst teams in the league and sit 20.0 games back in the AL East. While it's tough to imagine how things could get worse, Baltimore got bad news on Friday regarding the latest injury update on left-handed starting pitcher Bruce Zimmermann.

The Orioles placed Zimmermann on the 10-day injured list on Friday after he was diagnosed with left biceps tendinitis. This comes as the 26-year-old lefty was scheduled to pitch against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.

While Zimmermann's injury update is certainly bad news for the Orioles, his IL placement will be retroactive to June 15, according to RotoWire.

After limited playing time in the 2020 campaign, Zimmermann earned himself a spot in the Orioles' rotation this season. He's started in 11 games so far, pitching to a 4-4 record with a 4.83 ERA. He has also struck out 53 batters through 59.2 innings pitched, but allowed 12 long balls up to this point.

Even if Zimmermann does make a quick and full recovery, his presence probably won't be enough to turn the Orioles' season around. FanDuel Sportsbook has their World Series odds set to +30000, which is tied for the worst odds in the entire MLB.
