While New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom says he's confident his forearm tightness and elbow issue won't end his season, the Mets ace remains out since early July. His absence has impacted the National League MVP race along with his Cy Young chances.

San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (-115) is now the clear MVP favorite at the start of August. Newly acquired Los Angeles Dodgers SS Trea Turner (+700) remains a leading MVP candidate, but his teammate, Max Muncy (+450), currently stands second behind Tatis.

Tatis is hitting .292 with 70 RBI and an NL-best 31 home runs and 23 stolen bases. He also leads the National League with a 1.024 OPS.

Turner is hitting .322 with 18 HRs and 49 RBI. Muncie is having his finest season for the Dodgers, hitting .272 with 22 HRs, 62 RBIs and just one defensive error.

Here are the current National League MVP odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.
