Nick Foles took a hit on a touchdown pass with less than five minutes left in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He left the game and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest almost immediately.

Rookie Gardner Minshew came in and did a serviceable job, going 22-for-25 for 275 yards and two touchdowns, but the post-game news wasn't what Jaguars fans or Foles' fantasy owners were hoping for.

What Happened to Nick Foles

Sadly, Foles suffered a fractured clavicle, meaning he will miss an extended period of time. But when one door closes, another opens – both in real life and in fantasy football.

With Foles expected to miss much if not the entire 2019 season, we must now look at Minshew as a fantasy option in 2QB leagues. The rookie proved he wasn't afraid to sling it in his one and only season at Washington State. Minshew passed for 4,779 yards, 38 touchdowns and nine interceptions, completing 70.7 percent of his passes. While the Jaguars will likely go even more run heavy, potentially boosting Leonard Fournette's fantasy value, Minshew played well enough in relief in Week 1 that the Jacksonville wide receivers seemingly shouldn't take too big a hit.

While Minshew likely won't be ranked as highly as Foles might have, the rookie has some current as well as dynasty value moving forward.
