The football world is buzzing as Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season is officially kicking off. A decent portion of this excitement is due to the talented crop of defensive rookies that are making their NFL debut this year.
Only one fresh face can be named 2021 NFL Rookie of the Year and FanDuel Sportsbook is favoring that man to be Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons at +600 odds. The 12th overall pick of this year's draft made his debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, 7 total tackles, a quarterback hit and a pass defended — a pretty decent start on the road to potentially being named DROY.
Washington Football Team LB Jamin Davis' +750 odds are a tie for the second-best among defensive rookies. The former Penn State product was named Butkus–Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year in 2019, which proves that he has the pedigree to be one of the best at his position.
The other player tied with Davis' +750 odds is Denver Broncos safety Patrick Surtain II. He recorded 37 total tackles, 9 passes defended and even returned an interception for a touchdown last season en route to being named SEC Defensive Player of the Year as a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Here's a look at how the rest of the DROY odds are shaping up as Week 1 kicks off.
