Nelson Agholor doesn't exactly have a great reputation going for him. The 2015 second-round pick played five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, racking up just 2,515 receiving yards on 224 receptions. Struggling with drops and inconsistency in big moments, he's largely been written off as a bust.

An unrestricted free agent this offseason, Agholor signed with the Las Vegas Raiders for the veteran minimum. This was a steal for the Raiders, and Agholor could actually offer some intriguing fantasy value in Vegas.

Nelson Agholor Fantasy Football Value 2020

To start with, Agholor hasn't been nearly as bad as his reputation may have you believe. He had back-to-back 60-catch, 700-yard seasons and scored a combined 12 touchdowns in 2017 and 2018. He did take a step back in 2019, but the drop concerns were overblown. He caught 78.0 percent of "catchable" targets— not a great mark at 75th in the NFL, but certainly not the kind of egregious numbers his reputation may have you expect. That came after ranking 41st and 66th in catch rate in 2017 and 2018 — again, nothing special, but solid enough.

In fantasy football, we're also much more concerned with volume than efficiency, and the Raiders could have plenty of volume to go around. This is a team that has very little wide receiver depth, with no wideouts seeing even 75 targets in 2019. The team leader in that stat was tight end Darren Waller.

The other concern, of course, is if the Raiders select one of the top receivers in the NFL Draft with one of their first-round picks. If that were the case, there would be a lot less volume to go around, as Agholor would be left fighting with Hunter Renfrow for looks in the slot, with Tyrell Williams and the high-end rookie on the outside.

The good thing is, by the time most fantasy football drafts roll around, that situation will have some clarity. If the Raiders don't address the WR position early in the 2020 NFL Draft, fantasy football drafters would be wise to grab Agholor with a late-round pick.
