The Division I Council approved an expansion of the Division I Women's Basketball Championship bracket from 64 to 68 teams this week. The expanded field of 68 teams is effective with the 2022 championship.

All the women's college basketball teams are chasing three top teams. Topping the women's NCAA basketball championship odds on FanDuel Sportsbook is Connecticut (+250), with South Carolina (+300) and Stanford (+300) as the other major title contenders.

Stanford lost to Texas last weekend to fall to No. 7 in the AP rankings. Stanford has some other key games to watch in the early season against highly-ranked opponents including top-5 Indiana and Maryland to close out November and a showdown with South Carolina near Christmas.

Top-ranked South Carolina beat previous top-5 NC State to open the season, and No. 2 Connecticut is 1-0 with December games against top-20 opponents Georgia Tech, UCLA and Louisville ahead.

Maryland has started 4-0 but now has injuries to two key players. The Terrapins have top-10 match-ups to close November against Baylor, NC State and Stanford with South Carolina ahead in mid-December.
