LaMelo Ball is back with the Charlotte Hornets after missing 21 games with a wrist injury and it’s as if he's hardly skipped a beat. The remarkable rookie has helped Charlotte win two of three games since his return and continues to be the prohibitive favorite to win the 2021 NBA Rookie of the Year award.

NBA Rookie of the Year Odds

LaMelo Ball is now -700 and looks like a lock to win Rookie of the Year according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA futures odds. Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has fallen off to +700. Saramento Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton (+6500) and New York Knicks point guard Immanuel Quickley (+10000) round out the top four rookies in the odds.

Ball won three consecutive Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month Awards to open the season in January, February and March. The 6-foot 7 wiry guard is averaging 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists along with 1.6 steals per game in 44 contests. The Hornets are in position to make the playoffs thanks in part to the elite playmaking Ball has provided throughout the season.

Edwards was leading the race a month ago with Ball sidelined. The Wolves' No. 1 overall draft pick is having a solid season but still shooting just 41% FG while averaging 18.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for the bottom-dwelling Timberwolves.
