Plenty of buzz is expected to come out of Indianapolis this week as the NFL Scouting Combine officially begins. Buffalo Bills safety and pending free agent Jordan Poyer has become a hot topic after comments that seemed to indicate he'd be interested in the Miami Dolphins.

Not surprisingly, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about Poyer at the combine.

Jordan Poyer Dolphins Rumors

McDaniel smartly avoided the question, saying he doesn't want to risk any tampering violations. He also said, "We need all the draft picks we can get," which is a clear reference to the Dolphins forfeiting their own first-round selection this year after a league investigation into early conversations with Tom Brady in 2019.

Though McDaniel didn't directly address Poyer, there's no reason for Miami not to pursue the former First Team All-Pro in free agency. He's on the record for wanting a more lenient state when it comes to taxes, and he'd also prefer warmer weather if he doesn't return to Buffalo.

The Dolphins can offer both of those things, plus the chance to team up with friend Tua Tagovailoa. This roster is built to contend as well, and Poyer could be the piece that pushes Miami over the top. Getting to face his old team twice a year, too, could entice the talented safety to switch sides this offseason.
