After holding out in the beginning of 2019, Melvin Gordon is set to be a free agent in 2020. If he isn't re-signed by the Los Angeles Chargers, the Wisconsin product will have several suitors.

Gordon had 908 yards from scrimmage and 9 total touchdowns in the 12 games he played in 2019. Those numbers were enough to prove that he can still be a top back. With that in mind, here are three teams that are likely to land the star RB this offseason.

1. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are in a great position to sign Gordon. They have a boatload of cap space (around $93 million) and traded Kenyan Drake to the Arizona Cardinals during the season. Miami has a very clear need at the position, as no Dolphins' RB even reached 210 rushing yards in 2019. The Dolphins are still in rebuilding mode, but solidifying their running back situation would be good move.

2. Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are in dire need of a running back with both Lamar Miller and Carlos Hyde hitting free agency. Bill O'Brien, now effectively the GM, will have about $60 million in cap space to work with in the spring. The Texans have struggled to find a consistent running back for years, and they should be trying to make upgrades while Deshaun Watson is on his rookie contract. Houston has the ability to offer Gordon the long-term deal he wants. If the Texans add Gordon to an offense that already features DeAndre Hopkins, they could finally find a way into the AFC Championship Game. Laremy Tunsil is likely to get a large contract in the near future as well, but adding a talent like Gordon could help this offense reach its ceiling.

3. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have a number of major decisions to make. It looks like they won't be retaining Philip Rivers, but they will need to sort out their quarterback situation via the draft or free agency. With Tom Brady, Teddy Bridgewater, and Jameis Winston all reportedly available, the Chargers' cap space (13th most in the NFL) could disappear quickly. If they choose to go with a rookie in the 2020 NFL Draft, though, that could open the door for Gordon to return to Los Angeles. He'd fill a need for the team, with Austin Ekeler set to enter restricted free agency as well.
