Wide receiver A.J. Brown notably skipped the Tennessee Titans' voluntary workouts this week as he continues to make his want for a new contract known. The two sides are reportedly in talks, but that didn't stop Mel Kiper from projecting the team to draft a wide receiver in his latest NFL mock draft.

Titans Mock Draft

Kiper has Tennessee lined up as the landing spot for Velus Jones Jr. out of Tennessee at No. 90 overall (Third Round). While it may not seem like much, keep in mind that the Titans do not have a second-round pick. Using their second-highest draft pick on a WR would surely send a message.

Jones showcased his lightning quick speed at the NFL Combine by posting a 4.31 40-yard dash time. Overall, the 24-year-old racked up 1,026 yards and 1 touchdowns on 43 receptions across two seasons with the Volunteers. He shined the brightest when returning kicks for the special teams unit.

The Titans brought in Pro Bowler Robert Woods via trade this offseason and saw Nick Westbrook-Ikhine emerge with 476 yards to go along with 4 touchdowns in 2021. While WR isn't exactly a need for Tennessee, bringing in another dynamic weapon for quarterback Ryan Tannehill is not a bad idea.

Jones is an especially interesting prospect for the Titans given he played against Brown in an All-Star game back in high school. Their existing relationship could go a long way in helping the Volunteers standout adjust to the NFL level. Of course, that's if contract negotiations are figured out, though.

Watch out for any updates regarding Brown's status as Tennessee's offseason program rolls on.
