One of the biggest storylines for the Chicago Bears heading into a summer of training camps is the pending decision at quarterback. Mitch Trubisky lost his job as franchise quarterback while the Bears went on to draft the highly-touted Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Bears also brought in a very capable veteran in Andy Dalton, leaving many wondering when Fields will see the field. Yes, Fields is the long-term solution here. But, how long will fans in Chicago have to wait to see their next franchise QB?
Well, head coach Matt Nagy recently revealed a first look at the Bears quarterback depth chart, at least for the remainder of OTAs and potentially training camp. The first semi-official version of this depth chart may surprise some.
Bears QB Depth Chart
Nagy will opt to have his veteran Dalton take the first-team reps at OTAs. Fields slots in at the No. 2 spot, while Foles is pretty much cemented as a third option. Again, this is simply a first look at the quarterback depth chart. However, it's worth noting that Dalton kicks things off with the first team.
Summer training camps are the most important time of year for quarterbacks to develop a rhythm with the rest of the offensive, especially the corps of wideouts. Still, there's a lot of time left for Fields to impress his head coach and make this decision a no-brainer. Only time will tell.
