Over the past week, the current status of quarterback Jordan Love's right shoulder injury has been relatively up in the air. With Aaron Rodgers back in town for one more year, the importance of Love's immediate health isn't as pressing, but he's still the quarterback of the future in Green Bay and a shoulder injury for quarterbacks is undoubtedly concerning.

Fortunately, the MRI he underwent last Sunday came back clean. He's been held out of practice all week, although on Wednesday, head coach Matt LaFleur indicated the team would love to see him play in Week 2 of the NFL Preseason slate.

The latest update proves that likely won't happen after LaFleur provided another injury update on Thursday morning.

Jordan Love Injury Update

According to LaFleur, Love is "unlikely" to play during Saturday's preseason matchup with the New York Jets. Instead, Packers fans will see Kurt Benkert starting this game.

This isn't exactly the injury update that Green Bay fans were hopeful for. After all, Love didn't see the field once during his rookie campaign. With this young gunslinger the odds-on favorite to be Green Bay's next quarterback of the future, there's no doubt that fans want to see him in live game action.

Love's injury is something to monitor throughout the rest of the preseason. The hope is, that it isn't something serious that would require surgery.

But, Green Bay looks forward to at least one last season with Rodgers under center. Currently, the Packers own +1200 odds to win Super Bow 56, which ranks tied for the third-best odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
