One recent bright spot during the Detroit Lions' difficult 2022 season has been the play of rookie safety Kerby Joseph. He was a key part of Detroit's upset win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 9, but the Illinois product was also forced to exit the game in the second half due to concussion protocol.

Joseph has been limited practice as he attempts to clear protocol ahead of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears. The latest update on the stud rookie is very encouraging news.

Joseph was upgraded to a full participant in practice after working his way through protcols. He appears on track to be cleared in time for the team's Week 10 game, which is great news.

Joseph's emergence has been a pleasant surprise for Detroit. After being relegated to the special teams unit over the first three weeks, the third-round pick has earned a leading role in the secondary, playing at least 95% of the snaps in the four games prior to his injury.

He then stepped up in a huge way against Green Bay, picking off Aaron Rodgers twice and racking up 10 total tackles before departing. His performance earned him NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, making him the first Lions rookie to ever win that award.

Having Joseph available for this Sunday against Chicago would be huge as Detroit looks to slow down an improved Bears offense. The Lions are 3-point underdogs ahead of this NFC North battle, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
