Lamar Jackson on Pace to Break Single-Season Fantasy Points Record Set by Patrick Mahomes
By Max Staley

Lamar Jackson has been ridiculous this season. That much we know. He's dazzled fans with his arms and legs, and Jackson has found himself at the forefront of the MVP discussion as a result.
In fact, from a fantasy perspective, Jackson is currently on pace to break the QB scoring record that Patrick Mahomes set during his 2018 campaign.
Lamar Jackson is now on pace to score 422.5 fantasy points this season, which would break Patrick Mahomes QB scoring record from last year (417.1 points). Insane.

Last year, Mahomes tossed 50 touchdowns, threw for 5,097 yards and scored 417.1 fantasy points, which is the most ever by a quarterback. While Jackson can't compete with Mahomes' passing numbers, he's averaging more fantasy points per game (26.4) than Mahomes did last season (26.1).
That's because Jackson has been flat-out dominant when he's decided to tuck the ball and run. He's on a 16-game pace to rush for 1,248 yards, which would break the all-time, single-season rushing record by a QB, which was set by Michael Vick (1,039 yards) back in 2006. He's even added six rushing TDs.
Lamar Jackson also has 367.8 fantasy points through the first 16 starts of his NFL career. The only quarterbacks to score more through 16 career starts: Patrick Mahomes (410.1), Cam Newton (370.3).

Jackson has also improved tremendously as a passer, averaging 226.2 passing yards per game with 15 TDs to five interceptions this season. That's a significant improvement from the 159.1 passing yards per game he averaged last year, and he's already tripled the amount of touchdowns he tossed across seven starts last season.
The Ravens QB will have to continue to produce at this historic rate if he hopes to actually break Mahomes' record, but given how Jackson has played so far this season, you simply can't rule it out.
