Lakers' Odds to Win 2020 NBA Championship Still the Trailing Clippers After Signing DeMarcus Cousins
By David Hayes

While the Los Angeles Lakers woke up as losers in the hunt for Kawhi Leonard on Saturday morning, the Purple and Gold certainly didn't let that hold them back from pushing forward this afternoon.
L.A. has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with DeMarcus Cousins, adding a third NBA All-Star to its new-look roster alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

However, after the Los Angeles Clippers surpassed the Lakers as the new betting favorite to win the 2020 NBA Finals early Saturday morning, the Lakers' latest odds to win next year's title (+480) haven't exactly shown the kind of improvement you might have expected, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Lakers opened at +800 to win it all next season, but soared to +390 following their trade for the Anthony Davis. Yet, they've since fallen from the atop the odds to win the 2020 NBA Finals and are down to +480 as of Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the Clippers' blockbuster acquisition of Kawhi through free agency, and Paul George via trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles' odds of winning the 2020 NBA Finals improved to +290 after sitting as low as +2000 on July 1.

If the odds are any indication, it looks like the Lakers will be playing second fiddle to the Clippers even in the wake of the Cousins signing. Even so, it might be a mistake to rule out a team that features LeBron, AD and Boogie.
