Kirk Cousins Takes Subtle Shot at Stefon Diggs
By Larry Rupp

One of the biggest storylines of the past offseason was the trade that sent Minnesota Vikings' wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. In return, as part of the package, the Vikings received a first round pick in the 2020 NFL draft and selected LSU wide receiver, Justin Jefferson.
Flash forward to now and it seems like the trade worked out for both sides. Diggs is on pace to set a career high in receiving yards, while Jefferson is among the favorites to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. Neverthless, none of this stopped quarterback Kirk Cousins from taking a subtle shot at Diggs this past weekend.
Cousins on Jefferson: "I’m so grateful that we drafted him. I’m so grateful that we have him. In addition to being such a capable receiver, he has a great demeanor about him during the game. He doesn’t get high or low, just kind of stays the course."

This is a textbook example of complimenting one player while simultaneously bringing down another. It may not seem like much, but Diggs had built a reputation in Minnesota for not always being able to keep his cool on the sideline.
There were multiple times where he and Cousins got into verbal altercations between offensive series. No one truly knows if these guys actually dislike each other or not, but it certainly doesn't seem like they were best friends.
It'll be entertaining to see if this little rivalry continues for years to come or simply fizzles out. Diggs may have the upper hand right now as the Bills sit atop the AFC East with an 8-3 record, but Kirk Cousins and the Vikings aren't far behind as they are currently tied for the last NFC Wild Card spot.
