Kirk Cousins Madden 21 Rating is Disrespectful

If you were paying attention, you likely noticed a transformation from Kirk Cousins last year. He was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in football, finishing with a top-five passer rating (107.4). Cousins even did his best to dispel the notion that he can't deliver in the big moments, as he actually graded out as Pro Football Focus' highest-rated passer in clutch situations last season.

Despite that, though, Cousins has been given a shockingly low rating in EA Sports' "Madden NFL 21."

The folks at EA Sports have given Cousins an 82 overall rating. That's outrageously low, and it's not at all representative of just how good Cousins is.

Last season, he was elite in more than just passer rating, finishing with a top-seven grade in: touchdown percentage (5.9), adjusted yards per attempt (AY/A; 8.7), completion percentage (69.1), percentage of on-target throws (79.0) and passing yards off play action (1,235). He was also PFF's sixth-highest-graded quarterback.

Despite all of that, though, Cousins is still a lightning rod for unfair criticism. That 82 overall "Madden" rating has him tied for the 13th-highest graded QB in the game.

If Cousins' 2020 campaign looks anything like last year's, his rating should skyrocket over the course of the season.
