It's been nearly four weeks since Brooklyn Nets' star Kevin Durant turned the NBA world on its head by making a trade request. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Boston Celtics have emerged as a possible landing spot, yet their championship odds remain nearly unchanged on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Boston Celtics NBA Championship Odds

Boston checks in at +450 to win it all next season, which leads the NBA ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks (+550) and Golden State Warriors (+650). It's interesting to note that the Celtics have been sitting around +500 all offseason long. Adding Durant would surely make them a bigger favorite.

Wojnarowski notes that Boston's ability to include Jaylen Brown as a centerpiece gives them a leg up over other contenders like the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. Of course, Brooklyn is going to be patient here considering Durant is in his prime and has four years, $198 million left on his contract.

When it comes down to it, anyone remotely considering backing the Celtics should do so right now. Durant is a 12-time All-Star that averages 27.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Pairing him with an All-NBA talent in Jayson Tatum would give Boston one of the best one-two punches in the league.

Even if the Durant rumors eventually cool off, bettors would still be backing a team fresh off an NBA Finals appearance. The Celtics finished among the top five teams in both offensive and defensive efficiency last season. Boston's stellar defense allowed only 103.9 points per game (No. 1 in NBA).

Brown, Tatum, Marcus Smart, Al Horford, Robert Williams, Malcolm Brogdon, Derrick White, Grant Williams, Danilo Gallinari and Payton Pritchard is already roster that can compete with anyone in the NBA. Taking out a few names in place of Durant takes things to a whole other level, though.
