Kenny Golladay Fantasy Outlook Plummets With Matt Stafford Out Against Bears in Week 10

Kenny Golladay has offered huge fantasy football value this season, scoring a league-leading seven receiving touchdowns. However the wide receiver finds himself borderline unplayable in Week 10, with quarterback Matt Stafford set to miss Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.

Missing the Week 10 matchup with broken bones in his back, Stafford will most likely be replaced under center by Jeff Driskel. The 26-year old's only NFL action came in nine 2018 games for the Cincinnati Bengals, when he started six times, threw for 1,009 yards, and racked up six touchdowns and two interceptions.
Although Driskel has certainly looked serviceable, there is little doubt that Golladay becomes significantly less valuable without Stafford throwing him the ball. To date, Golladay has never started an NFL game without Stafford. A large part of the receiver's value has come from the deep targets offered by Stafford this season, averaging 18.3 yards per reception, with 640 yards on just 35 catches.
This issue now is that Driskel does not offer the same depth of target that Stafford did, which drastically reduces Golladay's opportunity. In 2018 Driskel threw for only a 7.4-yard average depth of target, while Stafford's average sits at 10.6 yards in 2019.

No matter what, losing Matt Stafford was going to deflate Kenny Golladay's value. The fact that the Lions' backup is Jeff Driskel, though, gives Golladay an especially significant downgrade. That is especially true in a matchup with a Bears defense that has held opposing WRs to bottom-five fantasy production on the season.
