Josh Allen Injury Update Doesn't Do Much for Matt Barkley Fantasy Value

In addition to picking up their first loss of the season, the Buffalo Bills were dealt a tough blow in Week 4 when starting quarterback Josh Allen went down with a concussion. He is currently in the concussion protocol and can only be considered questionable at best for the team's Week 5 road matchup with the Tennessee Titans.

Matt Barkley took over on Sunday once Allen was removed from the game, and completed nine of 16 passes for 127 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. The Bills' offense struggled to move the ball through the air against New England, but found a lot of success on the ground, as Allen and Frank Gore combined for 135 rushing yards on 22 carries.

Barkley draws a pretty tough Week 5 opponent in the Titans, who have allowed the 10th fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Since Barkley does not possess Allen's rushing ability, the Bills will need to draw up a new offensive game plan against Tennessee, who allowed 397 passing yards but zero touchdowns to Matt Ryan in Week 4.

Barkley started one game for the Bills last season, a 41-10 road win over the New York Jets in Week 10. In the victory, Barkley completed 15 of 25 passes for 232 yards, throwing two TDs to zero picks. That's a small one-game sample though, and his tough Week 5 matchups should leave him out of consideration in standard fantasy football leagues, and even in all but the deepest two-QB leagues as well.
